Dr. Gifford-DVMJoyce R. Gifford DVM

Dr. Gifford graduated from The Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. She then completed a thirteen month internship in medicine and surgery at the prestigious Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, MA.

Dr. Gifford worked in several private small animal practices before founding Abbott Valley in 1994. She is a licensed veterinarian in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She is a member of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association and was on the Board of Directors in 2000. She also won the 2005 “Small Business Person of the Year” award given by the RI Chapter of the Small Business Administration. Most recently, in 2012, Rhode Island Monthly magazine counted her among the'Top Vets' in their "Best of Rhode Island" series. She has a very loyal following of clients that have been coming to the practice for 18 years.

Dr. Gifford divides her time between her very busy practice and her husband and two sons. Her professional interests lie in internal medicine, dermatology and dentistry.


Dr-Mowry-DVMJoshua Mowry DVM

Dr. Mowry graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. He completed his veterinary training at St. Georges University and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2004. His clinical training was done at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville. Dr. Mowry is a native Rhode Islander and grew up in North Smithfield. He joined our staff in July 2007 after working in private practice in NY and RI for 3 years.

He brings great energy, compassion and commitment to our hospital. He is very devoted to making sure his patients are receiving the best possible care and that owners are aware of all treatment options so that they can make educated decisions on their pet’s behalf.


Dr-Tanguay-DVMBrandy Tanguay DVM

Dr. Tanguay, also a Rhode Island native, graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences in 1999. She completed her veterinary training at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 2006. She then went on to complete a one year internship in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine at the New England Animal Medical Center in Massachusetts. She has been with Abbott Valley Veterinary Center since August of 2007.

Dr. Tanguay is an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who greatly enjoys working with her patients. Similarly, she is committed to bringing the highest level of care to all of her patients. She has an eternally positive attitude which is a pleasure to be around.
